Martin Callan, Commissioner for Oaths & Chartered Legal Executive

A 12 year PQE Chartered Legal Executive Lawyer, Martin graduated from Cardiff Law School in 1996 where he went on to study the LPC the following year. Martin has practice experience in transactional and contentious matters and has worked at all levels of private practice and in-house.
Martin's legal career began in litigation. He then spent many years conducting property transaction, with a focus on leasehold and landlord and tenant matters. As his experience grew he also began to develop managerial, strategic and business-focused skills. Martin has managed large multi-site departments for a number of firms in England & Wales and has been involved in large entrepreneurial projects. Martin likes to be at the cutting edge of market developments and in late 2008 was part of a major project focused on consumer credit litigation, including unenforceability and PPI recovery. More recently, Martin has begun work on a LIBOR test case with counsel, law firms and claims management companies, looking to develop a solution for mortgage and investment consumers who have been affected by the LIBOR fixing scandal.
In 2013, continuing the theme of cutting edge market developments, Martin is involved in an innovative new solution to help Personal Injury Law Firms exit the market in the wake of the Jackson reforms and Legal Aid, Sentencing and Punishment of Offenders Act 2012.
Martin is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives, a Council Member of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives and actively involved with the CILEx London Branch
Martin has developed a significant national network of solicitors, barristers, chartered legal executives, law firms, claims management companies and legal service sector suppliers over the years and is well placed in the legal sector market to provide strategic consultations to those operating in that market. Martin is has completed the Fit & Proper Test in accordance with Regulation 28 of The Money Laundering Regulations 2007 (SI 2007 No. 2157). Martin is an Authorised Person under Section 18 of the Legal Services Act 2007.
