On Tuesday, 7 April the Land Registry introduced revised forms ID1 and ID2 to reflect the right of CILEx Conveyancing Practitioners to act as signatories to these forms. The Land Registry has also opened up identity forms for authorisation by Chartered Legal Executives.
Guidance for completing forms ID1 and ID2 has been updated to reflect these changes and can be accessed here.
This brings back some of the powers that had been taken away from Fellows of CILEx previously off the back of continued lobbying by CILEx. There still remains a way to go as the closed market led by the CML continues to tighten up which law firms and lawyers lenders will accept, regardless of ther rights of the consumer to choose.
